The Department of sociology is one of the prestigious department in Holy Cross College. The Bachelor of Arts in Sociology is a three-year course, this full-time course divided into three parts, consisting of six Semesters. The course aims to provide a systematic introduction to sociology in general as well as sociological studies in India. It lays emphasis on the theoretical and methodological functions of Sociology. Contributions of eminent Indian sociologists and fundamental themes of Indian Society are also included in the syllabus. The degree course also covers the study of some of its specialized field namely Rural Sociology, Urban Sociology, and Industrial Sociology. Graduates from the department have adopted a wide range of careers.
