Department of Social Work

The Department of Social Work is one of the youngest departments in Holy Cross College Agartala. It was established in the year 2023 and at present, offers a four-year Bachelor of Social Work program under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program is a practice-based professional course that champions social change, development, cohesion, and the empowerment of individuals, groups, and communities. It encompasses a deep understanding of human progression, behavior, as well as the social, economic, and cultural institutions and interactions that shape our societies. Social work professionals have made significant contributions to society through their interventions with families and institutions.

Fieldwork and experiential learning are an integral part of the curriculum, as they enhance students' understanding of social issues and cultural dynamics, fostering sensitivity and effective practice. Rural camps and study tours provide immersive experiences for the students in diverse settings.

The Bachelor of Social Work program aims to nurture competent and compassionate professionals, capable of addressing the multifaceted needs of individuals, families, and communities while upholding ethical standards, promoting social justice.
