Department of Kokborok


The Department of Kokborok was established in the year 2023 as an Honours course at Holy Cross College, Agartala. The Kokborok language is the mother tongue of the indigenous peoples of the Tripuri Community in the Northeastern state of Tripura, such as Debbarma, Reang, Jamatia, Tripura, Koloi, Noatia, Rupini, Murasing, and Uchoi. The Department of Kokborok at Holy Cross College, Agartala, stands as a testament to the institution's commitment to cultural diversity and linguistic inclusivity. This department reflects the recognition of the significance of Kokborok, the indigenous language of the Tripuri community. Since its inception, the department endeavors to promote and preserve the rich cultural heritage embedded in the Kokborok language, fostering a learning environment that celebrates linguistic diversity within the academic landscape of Holy Cross College, Agartala.
