The Department of Mathematics & Statistics
was started in the year 2023 under NEP-2020 with the idea of propagating
mathematical & statistical education at undergraduate level as per the
courses and curriculum of the Tripura University. The Department has been
offering Major, Minor & Interdisciplinary course for Mathematics
and Major & Minor courses for Statistics. All students
are selected after conducting a test or in the basis of their performance in
the last examination. The Department’s progress is significant and very much
encouraging.
OBJECTIVES
- To disseminate knowledge through teaching
at undergraduate level in mathematics covering all areas as per the
syllabus of the university.
- To prepare the students to complete at
all levels of examinations
- To motivate the students to remove
mathematics phobia and prepare the students to love the subject.
ACTION
PLANS:
(a) Long term:
- To increase number of permanent teaching
staff.
- Development of infrastructure of the
department.
- To increase the number of books in the
departmental library.
- To introduce PG Course in Mathematics.
- To introduce a Digital Class-Room.
(b) Short term:
- To improve the academic performance of
the students.
- Introduction of short-term course for the
development of mathematical skills of the students.
- Introduction of short-term course to
prepare the students for Bank PO, SSC, CAT, MAT.
- To organize various Workshop/seminars for
reducing Math-phobia among the school going students and as well as
parents and from society.
